This sweet and playful family allowed us to capture so many loving organic moments for them! These joy-filled images represent everything we love about photography and the way it can meaningfully document a family’s unique bond. The gorgeous mama and her little ones are all wearing clothing from our client wardrobe. The subtle mix of textures and layers created the perfect cozy style for our fall field setting. This session and family will be a forever favorite of ours!
We have been professionally photographing families for well over ten years now (how has time passed so quickly!?) and our approach has consistently remained the same – continually striving to capture as many authentic moments as possible during every session. While we’ll always appreciate a well-posed moment where every family member actually looks and smiles for the camera at the same time, those images are usually not the ones that make our hearts leap out of our chests with pride and excitement. Our favorite photographs are often those in-between moments where the bear hugs are spontaneous and the laughter is completely genuine.
Are some sessions filled with more organic moments than others? The answer is yes, and that’s completely okay! For every family there are seasons of life, especially while the children are small, where it’s a lot more fun and realistic for them to want to play with you rather than pose. In our experience, it’s much easier to get toddlers to run to their parents for a hug than it is to expect teenagers to do so! Older children often prefer to stand still and smile for the camera while little ones thrive with play.
Beautiful sessions can be created throughout every season of your family’s life, whether your children are young or reaching adulthood. However, if you are in the season of raising small children, trust us when we say that although the organic moments may sometimes feel chaotic, they are the ones that will become your most treasured family memories!
